The International Quilt Festival of Ireland managing director is Jim West. Jim is originally from Illinois in America, but now calls Galway, Ireland his home. He is the owner of Sew Many Places travel company and publisher of the free, quarterly magazine for quilters called Quiltposium, with over 207,000 registered readers.

Jim has been actively involved in the quilting community for the past 12 years, and is launching this summer an international buying and selling website for quilters called Quilt Deal. It will be the largest "flea market" for quilters online. Jim is also a member of the Irish Patchwork Society.
 
As a former cruise director for ten years, and having worked onboard the ships of Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Orient Lines, Jim has brought his expertise of designing an entertainment and activity program to the festival's schedule of events.
